Dear Taipei,

If you’ve found yourself thinking, “What does this city have in store for May?,” the short answer is, “a hell of a lot.”

This month, there are numerous events to keep you on your toes. From food and music events, to cultural celebrations and parties, you’re sure to find something that catches your eye. Below, I’ve rounded up 16 events that I think are worth going to this May in Taipei.

Organik 2018 After Party / Smoke Machine Label Launch Party (May 5)

Cinco De Mayo (May 5)

A large-scale Cinco De Mayo celebration at Maji Maji in Yuanshan involving many of the shops in the complex. Get the details here.

It’s A House Party (May 5)

“Well you’ve heard the hype now it’s time to believe it. Because of all the buzz we’ve decided to bring you a bit more flavor this time. A true collaboration with the Dssent and Dssent Taipei Chapter team…” DJs include Hassan Raphael on the 1’s and 2’s, and Japan, DJ KOU. Learn more here.


浩室迷因 (May 11)

“The last time these three DJs threw down a musical ménage à trois, the Taipei Times reviewer described it simply as, “Spellbinding”. On May 11th, the veteran 3-way DJ trio of Liu Xuan, (劉軒), Dominik T and Mr. Smith reunite in Taipei for an evening of scorching house music … it’s “one track each” until they drop…”  Learn more here.


Dinner and a Show: Comedy at Yiamas (May 12)

Food, laughter, drinks, and good friends. A comedy show held at Greek restaurant Yiamas, located in Xinyi District in Xinyi Anhe. Learn more here.


Margaret Cho|Fresh Off The Bloat – Live in Taipei (May 14)

I can’t get over how good of a pun this title is. If you’re a fan of Margaret Cho’s brand of pointed and provocative comedy, her one-night only stand up gig at NTUH International Convention Centre is one you won’t want to miss. Find out more here.


Iron & Wine Taipei Concert (May 17)

Fans of Iron & Wine will want to snap up tics to their one and only concert in Taipei at Legacy. Judging from the Facebook event page, the concert is looking to be a packed one, so act quick. Read more here.


TVF Vegan Fair (May 18)

Art Revolution (May 18 – 21)

Copa America Taiwan 2018 (May 19, 20, 26)

Copa America Taiwan will this year be held across three dates – May 19, 20, and 26 – at Ying Feng Riverside Park from 8am to 10pm. Read more here.
